Not everyone can take 12 days off for the full Char Dham circuit. The Do Dham Yatra — combining Kedarnath and Badrinath — is increasingly popular with working professionals and families who want a meaningful pilgrimage without a month-long absence. These two shrines represent the heart of Himalayan devotion and can be completed in 6–8 days from Delhi.

7-Day Do Dham Itinerary

Helicopter Option: Do Dham in 2 Days

Premium operators now offer Do Dham helicopter packages departing from Dehradun or Haridwar. You fly into Kedarnath, complete darshan, fly back, then repeat for Badrinath the next morning. Cost: ₹45,000–₹75,000 per person all-inclusive. Book 3–4 months in advance — these packages sell out by January.

Cost Comparison: Road vs Helicopter

Key Differences from Char Dham

  • You skip Yamunotri and Gangotri — which removes 3 days of driving on narrow mountain roads.
  • Kedarnath is the physically demanding part (16km trek). Badrinath has no trek — you drive to the temple gates.
  • The Kedarnath–Badrinath leg (via Joshimath) is one of the most scenic drives in India — alongside the Alaknanda river.
  • Both shrines are typically open May–October; check BKTC for exact 2025 dates.

Pro Tip

Stay in Joshimath (not Badrinath) the night before your Badrinath darshan. It's warmer, has better food options, and the early-morning drive to the temple is only 45 minutes.

Registration & Permits

Biometric registration is mandatory for both shrines. Register at Rishikesh, Haridwar, or Sonprayag (for Kedarnath) and at Joshimath (for Badrinath). Carry Aadhaar or a valid photo ID. The process is free and takes 10–15 minutes.

Important Warning

Landslide alerts on the Rishikesh–Badrinath highway (NH-58) are common during monsoon (July–August). Always check real-time road conditions on the BRO (Border Roads Organisation) website before travel.
